Beautifully designed architecture is as much a work of art as they are a functioning building. The world is full of creatively inspired architectural wonders that are as exciting to see as any other local tourist attractions, all guaranteed to take your breath away. For a sampling of some of the world’s most architectural designs, check it out here.
Khan Shatyr Tent
Talk about an inspired architectural design; while it may at first sight appear to be simple in style and design the awe inspiring Khan Shatyr tent (meaning “tent of the king”) in Astana, Kazakhstan is the biggest tent like structure in the world. This amazing building could fit 10 football stadiums, and the center of this architectural masterpiece is a giant tripod that is 149 meters high and weighs almost 2 thousand pounds (907 kilograms).
The building’s unique design is topped off with a slanted, needle like tip. The actual construction of this exceptional structure was carried out by 650 expert mountain climbers. Inside the Khan Shatyr there are a number of amenities including shops, rides, cafes, movie theatres, and there’s even an indoor beach.
Bhangarh Fort in India is not only the perfect example of the mastery of ancient architects, it is also said to be one of the most haunted sites in the world. According to Indian tales, anyone who stays in the fort will die and their soul will remain trapped without the possibility of rebirth. One of the most fascinating aspects of the fort is that the homes in the area can’t have roofs because they cave in for no plausible reason.
The Skipark 360
This wildly inventive structure is being built to be used as a one of a kind indoor ski slope which is scheduled to open its doors in 2015. Located in beautiful Stockholm this $220 million structure will be “greenest” ski resort in the world running on hydro power, solar, wind and geothermal.
The park will also provide a 700 meter downhill slope with a breathtaking drop that’s 160 meters high. Skipark 360 is the only indoor ski slope that actually will meet the requirements necessary to host the World Cup. When complete, it will also have an arena for bandy, figure skating, biathlon, ice hockey, and skiing tunnel and Snow Park.
These are just a few of my favorite architectural designs considering architecture that shows a flair for creative inspiration and even a legend behind them to add a special appeal.
